No Time like the New Year - Decluttering My Life

For the new year I want to declutter my life, most of this will be physical things I won't lie. I own way to much stuff.

Before going Home for Christmas I went through a big purge of all my clothes and managed to be get rid of 65 items. This tells me just how bad I've gotten over the last few years. Also since May I had decluttered about 100 items of clothing on top of this (please don't judge - I have been the same height and size for about a decade- never grow over 5 foot 3).

Back home I decluttered more stuff that I had left behind when I moved to London. whilst I managed to declutter quite a lot I know I have still kept too much.

Why I chose to declutter?

Whilst I was at Uni I bought a lot of things I don't really need, on example of this is the act that since finishing Uni well over two years ago now. I still haven't had to buy any new shampoo (I have bought a few bottles though still of ones I wanted to try - I know I'm a bad impulse purchaser).

But the amount of shampoo I own made me then realise all the other areas have way too much tuff in as well - my lipstick collection is overflowing and I hardly ever wear any, the number of nail varnishes I have that are so similar that I only really needed 1/10 of my collection.

I started watching videos and reading books on Minimalism and become interested in the idea. No I'm not planning on being a minimalist just yet but the idea that items don't make you happy hit a nerve and made me realise buying all this stuff was for the small second of happiness you get when you buy something new. This had to change.

Minimalism led me to the KonMari method (literally a few months before the Netflix show came out) I read both her books and started to tackle my clothes. So far this year I have decluttered over 100 more items of clothing from my life and a quite a few other things to.

What am I doing with the clothes? - the answer to this is that most of them I am selling, many have never or hardly been worn. I also wear the same few clothes all the time so have wasted a lot of money and bought into the consumerism cycle quite a bit.

The rest I am donating or recycling depending on the condition.

Thank you for reading, I will be back soon with an update.

Decluttering My Life

One thing you may not know about me is that I like to keep stuff, I guess you could say I hoard stuff. My family and partner have told me this many things but I have always liked to hold on to everything.

However, recently I have wanted  to start to declutter, I will be taking this in stuff steps and thought I would try and document my journey.

This is one of the 10 goals I have listed for next year, I will write about the journey that each goal has taken me on and will keep you updated along the way.

The first and easiest thing for me to declutter is my clothes, I haven't really grown since I was about 12, literally about half an inch. So I have never had to get rid of my wardrobe as I've got taller. I have had clear outs now and then but it just continues to grow.

Along with decluttering my clothes, I have also given myself the goal of buying no more than 10 items of clothing next year.

For now though my first small step is to get rid of 10 items from my wardrobe before the end of the year.

I will keep you updated.

Art in London -Truman Brewery - Arran Gregory - Hunt

So continuing on from my post the other day this is the actual exhibition I went for and the other art fair was around the corner from. Click here for The Other Art Fair

I was really excited to see Arran Gregory's work as I've been a massive fan ever since I saw his work in AlunaGeorge's music video.

I just love his work so much, each one of these mirrored leopards was handmade and there were 20 in this space. Gregory shows the Amur leopard which from being hunted is nearly extinct with only 60 left in the wild.

Literally could look at his work all day.

Cheerio hope you like his work as much as I do.

Art in London - The Other Art Fair

So last friday I spent the day in London going to art exhibitions. I decided I wanted to write about them but looking through my photos I decided it would be best to do a post on each different place I went. Got a bit crazy with my camera, so sit back and relax.

So the other art fair I didn't actually realise it was on but walked by it and decided to go in.

First before the pictures though I will tell you my favourite part of the exhibition. Before entering the exhibition you have the chose to be blindfolded as you make your way up the 27 steps to the exhibition, with headphones on. Guiding you to the top, it takes 12 minutes.

At a later date I will do a post about my favourites but there is too many to write about them all.

Hope you like the photos their artwork is amazing.
